1. Search Smart
Use the search bar and category filters to find exactly what you need. Compare prices across similar listings to make sure you are getting a fair deal. If a price seems too good to be true, it probably is.
2. Check the Seller
Look at the seller's profile. Verified students have a badge on their profile. Check how long they have been on the platform and whether they have other listings. A seller with multiple listings and a verified badge is generally more trustworthy.
3. Use the Messaging System
Always communicate through CampSwap's built-in messaging system. This keeps a record of your conversations in case there is a dispute later. Be wary of sellers who insist on moving to WhatsApp or other messaging apps.
4. Inspect Before You Pay
Arrange to meet on campus in a public place like the library or cafeteria. Bring a friend if possible. Inspect the item thoroughly before confirming payment. Check for damage, test electronics, and make sure the product matches the listing photos.
5. Use Escrow Payment
Always complete the payment through CampSwap's escrow system. Your money is held securely until you confirm delivery. Never send money directly via bank transfer, USSD, or mobile money — you lose all protection if you pay outside the platform.
6. Confirm Delivery
Once you have inspected and accepted the item, confirm delivery in the app. This releases the payment to the seller. If there is a problem, you can open a dispute before confirming.
7. Leave Feedback
After the transaction, leave honest feedback about your experience. This helps other buyers make informed decisions and builds trust in the community.
