What Is Escrow?
Escrow is a payment system where the buyer's money is held securely by CampSwap until the buyer confirms they have received the item and are satisfied. The seller only gets paid after the buyer confirms delivery.
How Escrow Works on CampSwap
- Buyer pays: When you purchase an item, you pay the full amount through our secure payment partner, Paystack. The money is held in our escrow account.
- Seller ships or meets: The seller is notified that payment has been made and arranges to deliver the item to you.
- Buyer inspects: You meet the seller, inspect the item, and make sure everything matches the listing.
- Buyer confirms: If you are satisfied, you confirm delivery in the app. The money is released to the seller.
- Dispute resolution: If there is a problem, you can open a dispute before confirming. Our team reviews the case and makes a fair decision.
Why Escrow Is Safer Than Bank Transfers
- No risk of paying and never receiving: Your money is not released until you confirm delivery.
- Dispute protection: If the item does not match the description or never arrives, you can get a refund.
- Record of transaction: Every escrow transaction is recorded and can be reviewed if needed.
Tips for Using Escrow
- Always inspect items thoroughly before confirming delivery.
- If something feels wrong, do not confirm delivery. Open a dispute instead.
- Keep all communication on the platform so our team can review it if needed.
- Never agree to complete a transaction outside of the escrow system.
