By using CampSwap ("the Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the Platform.
1. Eligibility
You must be a currently enrolled student or staff member at a recognized institution to use the Platform. You must be at least 18 years old or have parental consent. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
2. Account Registration
- You must provide accurate and complete information during registration
- You may not create multiple accounts without our permission
- You are responsible for all activity on your account
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Student verification badges are optional and are issued at our discretion after you submit a valid identification document for review
3. Listings and Content
- All listings must be accurate, clearly described, and not misleading
- Items listed must be legal to buy and sell on your campus and in your jurisdiction
- Prohibited items include: weapons, illegal substances, counterfeit goods, stolen property, exam materials, and any items that violate applicable laws
- All listings are subject to review and approval by our team before becoming public
- We reserve the right to remove any listing that violates these Terms
- Images must be your own or properly licensed — do not use stock photos or images from other sources
- Optional paid features, such as boosting and featuring a listing, increase your listing's visibility. Paying for these features does not guarantee a sale and does not exempt a listing from review or removal under these Terms
4. Transactions
- Purchases are processed through our secure escrow payment system, powered by Paystack. When you buy an item, the funds are held in escrow and only released to the seller once you confirm delivery
- A platform fee (minimum ₦150 or 6% of the item price, whichever is higher, capped at ₦2,500) is added to the item price at checkout
- All sales, negotiations, and deliveries are conducted between buyers and sellers on the Platform
- Buyers and sellers are encouraged to communicate through the Platform and to meet in safe, public locations on campus for exchanges
- We strongly recommend inspecting items before confirming delivery and confirming you are dealing with the actual seller
- If you have an issue with a transaction, you can raise a dispute within the Platform and our team will review and help resolve it
5. Payments, Delivery, Meetups & Fulfillment
- Escrow protection only applies to payments made through the Platform's secure payment system. If you pay a seller outside the Platform (e.g., bank transfer, mobile money, cash, or another payment app), your payment is not protected and cannot be recovered through the Platform
- All physical meetups and deliveries are arranged and carried out directly between buyers and sellers. CampSwap does not deliver items, and is not responsible for the timing, condition, or safety of any meetup or delivery arranged by users
- CampSwap does not guarantee the authenticity, quality, or working condition of any item. Buyers are strongly encouraged to inspect items before confirming delivery or payment
- Keep all negotiations and payments on the Platform. Moving conversations or payments off the Platform removes their protection and may result in message restrictions or account action
- If a transaction goes wrong, report the user and raise a dispute within the Platform so our team can review and help resolve it
6. Communication and Messaging
The Platform provides in-app messaging between buyers and sellers so interested buyers can reach the seller directly. Your phone number may be shown on your profile as a trust signal, but all buyer-seller conversations happen through CampSwap's messaging. Keep negotiations and agreements within the Platform whenever possible. CampSwap is not responsible for conversations or agreements made outside the Platform.
7. Reviews and Ratings
- Reviews must be honest and based on your genuine experience
- Fake, incentivized, or malicious reviews are prohibited and may result in account suspension
- You may not review your own listings
8. Stores, Boosts, and Paid Features
- Registered stores are available to sellers with an active subscription
- Subscription and listing-boost fees are processed through Paystack. Refunds are subject to our refund policy
- Store names must not infringe on trademarks or impersonate brands or institutions
- Failure to maintain an active subscription may result in your store being paused
9. Prohibited Conduct
- Harassment, abuse, threats, or discrimination against other users
- Sharing your account credentials or accessing another user's account
- Using the Platform for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Attempting to manipulate search results, bypass fees, or exploit the Platform
- Collecting user information without consent
10. Reporting and Account Termination
You can report users and listings through the report option available on each listing and message thread. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, receive repeated complaints, or harm the Platform or its users. You may delete your account at any time through your profile settings.
11. Limitation of Liability
CampSwap is a platform connecting buyers and sellers. We are not a party to transactions between users and are not liable for the quality, safety, or legality of listed items, the accuracy of listings, or any issues arising from direct user-to-user transactions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the six months preceding the claim.
12. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. We will notify users of significant changes via email or platform notice.
